You are about to discover the truth about oil with relation to your skin. You may or not have heard about the fact that by using oil it can potentially cause your skin to break out and that it should be avoided like a plague. Well, to tell you the truth, this is completely false. Whilst it is important that we keep our oil levels at a acceptable level, what we should do instead is try to avoid the oils that’ll cause you pain and damage.


There are two main type of oils available, there are cheap ones like lanolin or comedogenic and on the other hand there are more high quality but slightly more expensive oils such as macadamia, jojoba and squalene. These are all non comedogenic and can assist in drawing out any excess sebum from the pores. Sebum is a type of oily substance commonly found within the sebaceous glands, they prevent hair and skin from drying out. However too much sebum can cause oily skin, odors and even acne.

 


Tea Tree Oil:  One of my favorite oils for acne. There are several oils on the market that are made from tea tree oil and they work excellent. They feel and smell quite nice once you get used to it. They also work really well too, studies have proven that tea tree oil is just as effective as benzoyl peroxide in treating acne. 


Grapeseed Oil : If you are a person that naturally has oily skin and don’t have acne then this may be the oil for you. Grapeseed oil is an excellent solution for regulating your oil production, this means that the body will start to produce the optimal amount of oil. Another advantage of grapeseed oil is that it is full of antioxidants, including vitamin C which can brighten your skin. Try it on your face to see if it works on you first.


Olive Oil: Originally one of my all-time favorite cooking oil. Olive oil has made the list as a potential oil candidate. There are stories of women in Italy bathing in this stuff. Whilst this may sound scary and dangerous, studies have shown that olive oil does indeed have some positive influence on our body. Olive oil can be used to treat people with very dry skin , it is also very moisturizing as well as rich in compounds such as polyphenols, fatty acids and squalene. These are all designed to be nourishing and can also fight in aging.


Marula Oil: One of the slightly more expensive oils originating from East Africa. It is derived from the East African marula nut. It has been found that this particular oil has a high concertation of oleic acid and antioxidants. These can help defend you from UV rays and pollution as well as moisturize the skin.
